Awards Brochure for LAMA
I was asked by referral to design a brochure for the yearly LAMA (Local Authority Members Association) Community and Council Awards. The awards recognise and celebrate some of the great work done by local communities and councils working together throughout each year. There were 21 individual awards and 4 overall awards, ranging from things like the best Irish Festival and Best Mental Health Iniative through to the National Impact Award and the Council of the Year.
My job was to produce a visually pleasing brochure design that laid out the information clearly in a fashion that was appropriate for the occasion. My first port of call was to create engaging and eye catching graphics for the cover. I decided to tie in the figure 8 symbol from the logo with a gold coloured map of Ireland to give an idea of unity and working together in the country at the highest levels. I also utilised the green and blue of the logo as an abstract idea of the sea/ocean.
The main body of the brochure I tried to lay out in a clear and simple style with generous margins on the pages to add to the idea that each award is special or unique in some way. It also helped focus the eye and make it very easy to read.
Some of the councils ads came artwork ready but others I made up myself along with some double page spreads that highlighted some of the achievements of various council members during the year.
