Event Graphics for Ingenious Media

Ingenious Media are Ireland's leading organiser of conferences and exhibitions. The manufacturing event has been growing year on year for over ten years and is firmly established as Ireland's premier get together for the country's top manufacturing organisations.

The task of putting together the all the graphics for this also becomes more streamlined every year but it always brings it's challenges and as a freelance designer I have to organise my time well in order to cope with the heavy workflow! 

As new speakers, exhibitors and sponsors come onboard and occasionally drop out the graphics are constantly changing to reflect this. This does have a bearing on the balance of each design piece - and there are many - and I always make sure each piece is looking it's strongest at every point. The designs are important as it helps reflect the strength and stature of the event. Strong colours, logo positioning and good asthetic balance are the key things I am thinking about along the way.

The physical size of each piece has to be borne in mind as well as finished graphics can be anywhere between A4 and 6 metres in size. This affects not only myself but also the printing company. I try and keep larger pieces as low in finished file size as I can as this can hamper printing speeds, but obviously sharp enough to be professional and crisp looking. 

Among the pieces designed was the event brochure, large floor plans for patrons to navigate by, stage graphics as backdrops for the people speaking, large backlit graphics for the VIP section, plenty of signage as well as social media and web banners.
