Logo Design for AHRI
I was contacted on referral by AHRI (The Air-Conditioning, Heating, and Refrigeration Institute) and asked to redesign a logo for their Refrigerant Driving License certificarte program. This is a globally recognised certification that sets good practice in the competent handling of refrigerants within the Supply Chain Network.
The brief was to steer clear of the usual go to symbols and solutions that might be associated with the area such as trying if possible to avoid the speedometer or temperature gauge and to overall give it a fresher more modern appearance. Generally I felt that I should restrict my colour pallette to blues and greens as other colours were not so appropriate.
I came up with 3 ideas for the customer to look at and they expressed a preference for the one that we termed “the airflow” logo and asked me to look at developing the idea of airflow as a concept.
I then developed this idea further giving another few options - the simpler, more graphical of the two airflow options was decided upon. However it was mentioned that the logo was perhaps becoming too simple and I was asked to look at incorporating some element that might reflect the industry a little more clearly. The possibility of incorporating either some kind of cylinder or part of a refrigeration circuit were put forward as possibilities (a type of which is illustrated at the bottom of the page).
I managed to take the general idea of the circuit, but simplified it greatly and worked it into the logo, tying in both the idea of the airflow and the circuit together in a visually pleasing way. The customer was delighted with the finished logo design.
