Louth Urban Food Sanctuary Brochure

I was asked to produce an 80 page brochure design for Louth County Council to promote a local initiative in the county. The brochure was aimed at showcasing some local food production via recipes from people in the area. The recipes were very varied and had their inspiration from all over the globe.

I worked alongside the council and also with Eimear McNally a local Illustrator who put together some great illustrations for the project. The illustrations were fun and colourful and created an inviting and appealing mood around which to create the brochure. It also made designing the brochure a lot easier. Like any trade, the quality of the materials you are working with will go a long way towards arriving at a good quality final product.

I tried to create a design that was fun and welcoming. So using the available illustrations freely I tried to avoid a tight grid like look that a lot of brochures end up falling into, going more for a look that was free of conventions and rules, hopefully in the spirit of what the project was all about.
